External Review of Courses
American Council on Education (ACE)
ACE's College CREDIT Recommendation Service evaluates and makes credit recommendations for formal educational courses sponsored by non-degree granting organizations. ACE's College CREDIT Recommendation Service helps adult learners obtain academic credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom by providing college officials with reliable information that can be used to determine credit awards. Thirty-four courses have been approved by ACE for academic credit recommendation.
Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)
The Department of Public Safety's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Program is a regulatory agency that is responsible for the licensure of peace officers, reserve peace officers, basic training instructors, curriculum, and training centers. MU FRTI programs were evaluated by POST for its content supporting Law Enforcement continuing education requirements. Nineteen courses carry POST credit.
Office of Domestic Preparedness (ODP)
Some programs developed by MU FRTI have been reviewed and approved by the Office of Domestic Preparedness that make these programs eligible for Homeland Security funds.
U.S. National Fire Academy (NFA) endorsement
Some courses have been
by the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Academy. Endorsement indicates only that, at the time NFA conducts its review of the proposed product, the general design of the course satisfied the standards of quality established by NFA in the endorsement agreement.
